EESI consistently monitored the landfills, producing reports that identified exceedances in some contaminant levels. The team also conducted research and provided recommendations for management and reduction options. Upon this, EESI committed to continually reviewing, monitoring, and suggesting how to remediate new issues encountered, and to closely monitor areas showing inconsistencies with previous results.
As a result of EESI’s monitoring, Nillumbik Shire Council was able to identify and manage potential environmental risks, ensuring compliance with aftercare management plans. EESI helped the council implement effective strategies to reduce contaminant levels and improve environmental compliance.
The consistent monitoring performed by the EESI team demonstrates the benefits of following aftercare management plans, and Nillumbik Shire Council’s commitment to ongoing monitoring and remediation will help ensure the long term sustainability of the site.
