Environmental Earth Sciences International has decades of experience tackling environmental site challenges, and is proud to be at the forefront of bioremediation technology. We put a strong focus on reducing risks and ensuring sustainable outcomes in our remediation procedures, utilising sustainable green chemistry techniques where possible.
Taking a comprehensive approach to remediation, our teams provide you with expert supervision throughout the entire remediation process. Working closely with you to develop Remediation Option Assessments & Design Plans to ensure that remediation actions are cost–effective, technically sound, and aligned with regulatory requirements, we implement remediation action plans, engage contractors and provide monitoring and audit services as required. Remediation services by EESI include:
Our soil treatment solutions are designed to rehabilitate, remediate, or prepare soil for sustainable land use.
We integrate physical, chemical, and biological techniques to address specific soil conditions and objectives effectively. Physical methods such as soil aeration and compaction control enhance soil structure, while chemical treatments adjust pH levels and nutrient content. Our biological treatments harness the activity of microorganisms to degrade pollutants and enhance soil fertility naturally.
Similar to our soil treatment approach, our groundwater treatment services employ a combination of physical, chemical, and biological treatment methods tailored to the specific characteristics of contaminants present. We utilise advanced technologies and expert knowledge to remove suspended solids, volatile compounds, heavy metals, and organic pollutants from groundwater sources. Our services aim to restore and preserve groundwater quality, ensuring the protection of valuable water resources for various applications.
EESI is proud to be a world leader in developing and implementing the bioremediation process, leveraging the natural power of soil microbes to digest hydrocarbon-based contaminants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs). Our journey in bioremediation began in the 1980s, culminating in the establishment of our dedicated New Soil business unit in NSW, Australia, in 2010. Since then, New Soil has been at the forefront of soil remediation in Australia, with a strong focus on bioremediation, and has successfully pioneered commercially viable off-site bioremediation solutions for gas works, tar, and tar products like creosote and emulsion.
Bioremediation promotes the natural degradation of contaminants by enhancing the activity of soil microbes. Unlike destructive contaminant treatment technologies like thermal incineration, which eliminate contaminants along with soil microbial life, New Soil's patented Dynamic Biopiles solution enhances soil microbial activity to efficiently break down contaminants.
This process amplifies soil microbial activity while retaining soil function, resulting in a much more environmentally friendly treated and validated product that meets human health guidelines and is safe for use in parks or infrastructure projects.
At New Soil's Soil Recycling Facility in NSW, Australia, bacteria present in contaminated soils are being utilised to break down hydrocarbons such as petrol, diesel, oils, and tars. This patented process enhances the environment for naturally occurring bacteria, increasing their numbers to reduce contaminant concentrations. By degrading contaminated soils to acceptable levels, the process effectively cleans and prepares soils for reuse as engineering fill and landscape soil. The resulting soil contains nutrients, making it easily cultivable and contrasting with the destructive process of soil incineration.
